This impressive sixteenth century manor house was extended in 1800 and has since been renovated to the highest standards, offering extensive accommodation measuring over 1,300 square metres. It boasts a magnificent hilltop setting, with panoramic views across the natural parkland of the Garraf hills down to the coast at Sitges, Vilanova and La Geltru. It enjoys a very private location set in over 300 acres of private grounds with 14 kms of tracks that wind through olive groves, fruit trees, almonds, walnuts and vineyards with grapes used for the production of local cava.
The house was originally used for farming and winemaking and is now a protected building. Many of its original characteristics have been preserved during its recent renovation, most importantly the wine presses, bodega, solid stone walls, authentic beams, terracotta tiles, stone-carved arches, restored wood and wrought iron. The windows have also been enlarged to allow in more natural light and many balconies and terraces have been added. It has been decorated throughout in a modern style using terracotta, amber and ochre shades with dark woods and bright silks and natural fabrics such as leather, sisal and linen.
The property is accessed through a security gate and a driveway, affording it maximum privacy and there is a large parking area. There are several living rooms where you can relax. There is a television room with satellite television, gallery, cosy living room with open fireplace and an old wine vat that has been converted into a study/card room and the dining room which overlooks the pool area. There is a state of the art kitchen that has been equipped with all modern appliances and facilities. There are four bedrooms which all have en suite facilities. There are a further four suites, each with a bedroom with king size bed, living room with double sofa bed and bathroom en suite.
The house also boasts a wide range of other facilities. There is a home cinema with surround sound, which has been made from a converted wine deposit, and a further room that can be used for meetings or seminars with presentation and lecture equipment. For older children, the house boasts a 3/4 size snooker/pool table in the converted wine cellar, basketball, table tennis and boules and there is a separate playroom, with Playstation, books and toys for younger children. There are also two bar areas and a wine cellar.
Almiral de la Font is set around a large central courtyard, planted with palm and citrus trees. There is also a spacious Moroccan style outside living room to the side of the large central courtyard and several sun terraces that have been furnished with ample outside dining furniture and parasols. There is a covered barbecue area.
The large, solar-heated, swimming pool measures approximately 18 x 6 m and has an attractive infinity edge, with spectacular views of the wooded valley below. It has a separate children’s pool and a heated Jacuzzi/hydro-massage area. The pool can be illuminated at night and it is surrounded by terracing with plenty of sun loungers and parasols.
There is also a telephone and a fax machine available for guests’ use, which should be requested at the time of booking. The house managers are also generally able to arrange additional cleaning, cooking, laundry, babysitting and a chauffeur for private excursions. All of these extras should be requested at the time of booking and an additional charge applies.
