The house is in 5000m2 of its own ground, on the edge of the beautiful village of Santillana del Mar over which it has lovely views. It is within walking distance of the village 400 metres away. Santillana is 5km from the sea; it has a wonderful collection of 15th to 18th Century aristocratic houses, an interesting church, and a host of shops and excellent restaurants – try ‘Gran Duque’ for a real treat. You have easy access to Santander to the east, while the attractive resorts of Comillas and San Vincente de la Barquera are only a short drive down the coast to the west. 30 minutes drive south lies the Reserva Nacional de Saja.

All the accommodation is on the ground and first floors. The discreet owner and his family live in a basement apartment with its own entry. The front door opens into an entrance hall. To the right, an arch opens into the living room with two sofas, and two armchairs in front of a TV and dvd player; at the other end of the room is a dining table to seat 10 – wide windows look out onto the garden. On the left hand side of the entrance hall an arch opens into the kitchen/dining room with dining table and chairs, and at the far end of the room a fitted kitchen with chestnut cupboards, a washing machine and microwave as well as ordinary oven. On this floor are two bedrooms: one with two single beds, the other with a small double bed (1.35m), a folding single bed and its own bathroom/WC. There is also a shower room/WC close to the other bedroom.

On the first floor are two bedrooms: one with a large double bed and a door to the balcony, the other with a double bed and an open shower room/WC. Off the landing is a bathroom/WC and a billiard room with a sofa and doors to two balconies. All four bedrooms have a sofa convertible to a child’s bed. The house has oil-fired central heating.

Outside, the garden is mostly rough mown grass. Near the house is a 10m x 4m swimming pool with Roman steps; shared with the owners who will use it discreetly.
