Casa Suspino is an old mill named after the River Suspino that runs through the grounds. The mill dates back from the 18th Century and is located in the village of Casamaria; it has been lovingly restored with exposed stone, and still has the stream running underneath it.
The village of Herrerias, 12km away has a very interesting reconstructed forge that is opened to the public on Saturday mornings. In the village of Camijanes there is a 17th Century church with a wonderful altar and a pretty bridge over the river Nasa. The village of Puentenasa is also well known by pilgrims as it is believed that two little girls had a vision of the Virgin Mary here, hence the monthly religious celebrations held there.
There is a small bar and grocery shop in Casamaria but Panes is only 1km away and has shops and more restaurants. Unquera and Pechon on the coast are just a short drive away and will offer a further choice of shops and restaurants.
The house is entered through a solid two piece traditional door. The interior has been decorated with a light creamy colour creating a feel of light and space. It is completely open plan with a double bed at one end, a sofabed, table and chairs and a compact kitchen area; this has a cooker, fridge-freezer, washing machine, micro-wave and a bar with stools. There is also a shower room/WC.
As you step out of the house, there is a charming stone paved patio with table and chairs and a barbecue. There are nice views from here of the surrounding countryside with gently rolling hills and woods.
