This is the most famous castle in the Chianti region, in whose vineyards one of the best Tuscan wines is produced. Enclosed by fortified walls, it dominates all the surrounding hills. Its origins date back to the 11th century and over the centuries it has been re-built and modified as a result of the numerous medieval wars. A large part of the existing building dates back to the 15th. C. It belongs to the Ricasoli family who have been living in it since 1141.
