This is the most famous castle in the Chianti region, in whose vineyards one of the best Tuscan wines is produced. Enclosed by fortified walls, it dominates all the surrounding hills. Its origins date back to the 11th century and over the centuries it has been re-built and modified as a result of the numerous medieval wars. A large part of the existing building dates back to the 15th. C. It belongs to the Ricasoli family who have been living in it since 1141. It is well-kept and a holiday spent here will make you re-live the atmosphere in which nobilty once lived. 1.5 km food shop and bus stop, 10 km Gaiole, 23 km Siena. Shared swimming pool (10x5 x depth 1/1.2) (1/6-30/9) on a spacious terracing of the castle. Apartment (approx. 400 m2) which occupies a big part of a wing of the castle and is divided into 2 parts by a characteristical stone-staircase.
