Nestling into the lower slopes of Pantokrator, Corfu's highest peak, Barbarosa not only boasts the most wonderful sea views but also an enviable situation just 100 metres across the coast road from a small pebble beach accessed via a gate and flight of steps which are exclusive to the house. Guests staying at Barbarosa have the key to the gate and therefore enjoy private access down to the cove. As is common throughout the Mediterranean, the beach itself cannot claim to be private (inquisitive passing dinghies sometimes put paid to that) but this is probably as close as it gets! Doors lead out from the living room onto the spacious sunny terrace from where activity in the larger than average private swimming pool, just below, can easily be supervised. Conveniently located just outside the kitchen door, the dining terrace and adjacent in built barbecue are sure to see many a happy holiday hour spent cooking and feasting on some of the wonderful fresh produce found in the daily market of nearby Corfu town (19km). Those beautiful sea views can be easily admired from various shady nooks under the mature trees and colourful shrubs which surround the house on three sides. Less than 400m along the coastal road is the delightful seaside village of Barbati, home to many excellent tavernas, a handful of café bars, a couple of gift shops and a few well stocked supermarkets. Barbati's pebble beach is considered one of the nicest on the island and offers a variety of watersports as well as small motor boat rental. Walkers have a number of trails to enjoy on Pantokrator whose craggy peaks form an eye-catching backdrop.
