This region has a history which dates back to Roman times and is reflected in the romansque churches and the Gallo-Roman theatre at Les Bouchauds 5 kms. Once a month regional market. The famous brandy producing region of Cognac is only 25 kms away. The medieval town which bears the name of the region has attractive cobbled streets and elegant Renaissance facades. An array of guided tours are available which give an in-depth view of the copper stills and oak barrels in which the precious liquor improves.

Traditional light and airy house with wide entrance hall leading to a simple but functional kitchen with oven, microwave and dishwasher. Separate utility with shower and sep WC. Superb comfortable but simply furnished sitting/dining room with tall ceilings up into the eaves. TV/DVD/CD player and internet access. Additional mezzanine area with double sofa bed with views across the gardens and fields and access to first floor.
