Plenty to do both on site and nearby - horse riding 5 min drive at St Même, swimming lake with canoeing at Jarnac, 15 min drive, climbing centre or bike hire in Angoulême, and golf at St Brice, 25 min drive. Château de Barbézieux well worth a visit, 15 min distant, or sample the produce of local vineyards – Cognac with its distilleries is less than 30 min drive. Lovely walks among woods and vineyards directly from the Relais itself. Attractive resorts of Meschers and St Georges-de-Didonne on the Gironde have lovely sandy beaches, around 80 min drive. Le Coche is set on a lovely complex of just 3 cottages and 5 B&B suites, recently converted from a C17th/C18th coach house on the edge of picturesque hamlet of St Preuil, in the heart of Cognac vineyards. Property has use of all the grounds of the Relais which have lovely views of woods and vine-clad hillsides, and the built-in BBQ. Excellent on-site leisure facilities: clay tennis court, fenced heated pool 14 x 7 x (depth) with security immersion alarm, shared by all 3 properties and B&B guests. Terraces for sunbathing, pool house with table tennis, and secure play area for children with slide and swings. Charming English-speaking owner-manager lives in his own part of the coach house buildings. Le Coche is of very high standard throughout including an internet point in each bedroom and air-conditioning.
