Champagnac la Rivière is under three miles away for shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Chalus, the mediaeval city, offers even greater choice of shops. The Chateau de Brie, in the Périgord Vert stands at the border of the Dordogne to the south and the Charente to the west, on the famous “Route of Richard the Lion Heart”. Here you will discover amazing chateaux and fortresses, in undulating green countryside with lush, green meadows. Limoges, Angoulême, Périgueux, Brantôme and La Rochefoucaud, are all within easy reach.

The main pool (13 x 7m) is situated between La Vallade and La Garenne with gentle Roman steps, a shower and wc in the pool house, is shared between four houses. Shared tennis court under the shade of the trees within the Chateau's grounds. There is a puppet museum in one of the barns. A spectacular medieval feast is organised during the summer months, and there is a bar in the hunting lodge at the entrance of the castle. The vast Domaine de Brie is over1000 acres so you can walk or cycle through the forest and the numerous marked paths. Le Pressoir has a garden with garden furniture and barbecue.

This charming, restored watermill is one and a half miles along a country road to the Chateau and swimming pool. It has an attractive living room with a large fireplace, an old bread oven and kitchen stone sink. The unusual kitchen is partly built into the rock of the cliff, and is fully equipped with oven, four rings, microwave, fridge, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, iron and board. On the first floor is a small sitting area on the landing leading to a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with washbasin. An open tread spiral staircase leads to the second floor where there are two beamed twin rooms, a bathroom and wc. There is a separate studio with entrance from the garden with shower room, wc and open staircase leading to a beamed mezzanine under the eaves with double bed. A stream crosses the bottom of the garden with the old millstone from the old watermill used as a large table in the summer. Electricity above 56 kw per week and wood for fireplace payable locally. Cot and high chair on request. Bed linen included.
