Thedirac is a village of honey coloured stone with a history dating back to the Roman occupation with a fortified church and a 15th Century Manor House. The local region is known for foies gras and truffles. The village has a bakery, shop, boules court and a tennis court. The larger villages of Catus and Cazals are each 7km away. They both have weekly markets, restaurants, bars and small super-markets. Lavancantiere which is about 1.5km away has a small store, bar and restaurant. The house is near to many excellent restaurants including those at St Medard, Les Arques and Peyrilles.
Sarlat is 30 minutes away and Cahors 25 minutes, so the house is well placed to explore both the Lot and Dordogne valleys. This house is situated on high ground with good open views about 15 minutes walk from the village and set in nine acres of its own ground.

On the ground floor, the base of the tower is an entrance hall but is large enough to be used as a second sitting room; it has a tumble dryer and is furnished with a single bed and an en-suite shower room/WC. Steps lead down through an arch to a large open-plan living room with 3 sofas and 2 low tables in front of a wood burning stove. There is a well fitted kitchen in one corner with a hob, oven, washing machine, microwave and a dishwasher. Two sets of French windows opposite each other allow views out in both directions; these open out onto the garden and the wide terrace which runs along the back of the house.
Stairs lead up from the living room to the first floor which has exposed timber roof beams and a CD player. There are four bedrooms. The master double bedroom in the tower has windows on three sides and a shower room/WC. The second bedroom has a double bed and cot with windows on two sides. The third and fourth bedrooms have twin beds and bunk beds respectively. There is a further bathroom/WC. The house has wall-mounted radiators and a telephone.
Outside is a 10m x 5m swimming pool with Roman style steps, with an adjoining covered terrace with an eating area. There is plenty of grassy space around the property, ideal for ball games.
