The setting of this sensitively restored stone retreat must surely be one of the most idyllic that we have come across. With wide sweeping meadows encircling the house, a small stream skirting the boundary and hedges and trees enclosing the whole, your privacy is assured within spacious and picturesque grounds. From the stone steps that adjoin the front of the house, you are welcomed into an open plan living room, where the use of aged chestnut and exposed beams has created attractive kitchen, dining and sitting areas. Modern appliances are by no means lacking and yet the traditional character has been carefully retained, with a stone fireplace dominating the sitting room and the original granite sink being an interesting feature. Step out of the kitchen door and a slate terrace occupies a corner at the rear of the house, beyond which lies the swimming pool. Here too is access to a spacious games room with pool and table tennis tables. Whilst many guests may not wish to leave such a pleasant setting, the local village of La Fouillade can be reached by way of a 10 minute drive and this offers a number of shops as well as two restaurants. Not to be missed are the nearby bastides of Najac and Villefranche-de- Rouergue which are 13 and 21km away and boast weekly markets and impressive old quarters.
