Cilaos is a modern and comfortable villa that overlooks the 18 hole golf course of Nîmes. The course is walking distance and has a good restaurant that is open for lunches. The Roman centre of Nîmes with its amphitheatre and Maison carré is 15 minutes drive away. It is pleasant to wander in the lovely streets of Nîmes and stop at one of the numerous places just to rest or have a drink. Every morning a covered market takes place in the heart of the historic town; it is very picturesque and has a butcher, fishmonger, cheesemonger, florist and restaurant.

Otherwise, there is plenty to visit nearby. The old ducal town of Uzès lies some 30 minutes drive away. Anduze renowned for its pottery and its botanical gardens, and the Gardon River are 45 minutes. To the east, Avignon is worth a visit for its wealth of history and architecture; in July the prestigious theatre festival last 3 weeks and hosts an incredible number of shows all around the town both indoor and outdoor. To the south, Montpellier and the sea resorts are also within easy reach.
