This large and spacious farmhouse is typical of the Béarnais architecture found in the region. Its substantial presence is set in enclosed, established gardens of some 0.75 acre in the small rural hamlet of Osserain. Inside, a warm atmosphere is created by the ochre and sienna paintwork, flagstone floors and original oak beams. Comfortably furnished, Maison Thyarre is an excellent choice for large groups. The grounds around the large detached house provide plenty of grassed garden by the pool for energetic youngsters, whilst the sheltered kitchen garden supplies a quieter area for relaxation and outdoor eating beneath the walnut trees. Fishermen will be impressed with its location, close to the River Saison, a tributary of the Gave d'Oloron, reputedly one of the best in France for salmon and trout. Those with other preferences will find no shortage of leisure pursuits: hill walking, pony trekking, canoeing and white water rafting are all catered for locally. Or you can meander the quaint alleyways of the medieval walled town of Sauveterre with all facilities and only a 5 minute drive away, or saunter the pretty riverside spa of Salies-de-Béarn. Less than an hour's drive takes you to the border with Spain up in the Pyrenées, or westward to the beaches of the Atlantic coast.
