Château Pierrail was built in the 17th century on the foundations of a medieval castle and is set in an estate of over 200 hectares. It is located between Bergerac and Saint Emilion, south west of the Dordogne in the famous wine-producing region of Bordeaux. The French owners are happy to show guests around their extensive south facing vineyards and the production process.  Recent vintages of both the red and white wines have received gold and silver awards and are deservedly some of the best wines in the appelation.

The north west wing of the Château and part of the west tower have been tastefully restored to provide two self-contained apartments – La Tour Magnolias and Les Grappes.  Imposing stone steps lead from the front terrace of the Château to a secluded swimming pool that measures approximately 12 x 6 m.  Guests also have use of the family tennis court, or they can wander down to the lake to use the rowing boat or fish.

Les Grappes is slightly smaller than La Tour Magnolias but is still spacious and furnished and equipped to the same high standards.
On the ground floor there is an open-plan kitchen/living/dining room.  It has an attractive tiled floor in a traditional local design and some exposed stone walls. There is a television, electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Doors lead to the raised terrace that is set within the central courtyard of the Château.  It is a very pretty spot in which to relax either by day, or when the courtyard is lit at night. There is also a full bathroom and a cloakroom on the ground floor.
On the first floor is the Master bedroom with double bed and bathroom en suite with a half bath. There is a further twin bedroom and a single bedroom with a bed on a raised level.
