Château Pierrail was built in the 17th century on the foundations of a medieval castle and is set in an estate of over 200 hectares. It is located between Bergerac and Saint Emilion, south west of the Dordogne in the famous wine-producing region of Bordeaux. The French owners are happy to show guests around their extensive south facing vineyards and the production process. Recent vintages of both the red and white wines have received gold and silver awards and are deservedly some of the best wines in the appelation.

The north west wing of the Château and part of the west tower have been tastefully restored to provide two self-contained apartments – La Tour Magnolias and Les Grappes. Imposing stone steps lead from the front terrace of the Château to a secluded swimming pool that measures approximately 12 x 6 m. Guests also have use of the family tennis court, or they can wander down to the lake to use the rowing boat or fish.

La Tour Magnolias
Steps lead up from the central courtyard of the Château to the main entrance of La Tour Magnolias. Accommodation comprises. On the ground floor, is a large open-plan kitchen/dining area. It is well-equipped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Doors lead from here to a separate terrace in front of the Château with attractive wrought iron garden furniture which is set under the shade of ancient magnolia trees facing the park. An elm staircase leads up to the elegant living room on the first floor of the tower. It is comfortably furnished with antique furniture and television. The double bedroom has been carpeted throughout and has a bathroom en suite. It also has a separate cloakroom en suite. There is a twin bedroom and a further single bedroom which share a separate cloakroom and full bathroom. The apartment is furnished throughout with antiques and works of art which have been in the Château for years.
