With the château and its courtyard lying to the rear, the house looks out across its own private grounds of mature trees, rolling lawns and large swimming pool, flanked by open terraces. The work of the caring owner is clear to see in the immaculately presented interior, where hand carved furniture is complemented by tastefully chosen fabrics. One of a number of original features to be retained, a fine stone fireplace dominates one wall of the dining room, whilst the neighbouring well equipped kitchen boasts all of the comforts of modern day living. Throughout, the tall windows that line the front of the house provide clear views across the pool and garden and create bright and cheerful rooms. Outside, keen swimmers will be delighted by the generous proportions of the swimming pool, which shelves gently from the shallow end like a beach. To the side stands an impressive barbecue house and beyond, a beautifully maintained garden of wide lawns, dotted with shady trees, stretches down to the river that skirts the boundary. Although set off a rural lane and surrounded by open countryside, a range of local shops and restaurants can be found in nearby Eymet, which can be reached on foot. Alternatively, a 20 minute drive past the fields of well ordered vineyards that are so typical of this area takes you to the attractive centre of Bergerac, with its fascinating old centre of narrow streets and well preserved historic buildings.
