Situated just 6kms from Belvès with shops, restaurants and Saturday morning markets. It was once of strategic importance, encircled by ramparts on a promontory above the Nauze valley and bristling with seven towers - even the central square is called “place des Armes”! In the ramparts are the Troglodyte houses once the dwelling of families and animals alike between the 12th and 17th centuries. There are a few restaurants just a few minutes drive at Soirac and if by chance you are here the second half of July there is Bach Festival. A short drive will take you to Cadouin with it’s Abbey, Castelnaud and Beynac chateaux. The medieval town of Sarlat is 40km. The area is ideal for those enjoying walking. International airport Bergerac 50km.
