The pleasant little riverside town of Le Buisson, 1 km, has cafés, everyday shops, bike hire, tennis courts and a cinema showing English subtitled films. Siorac, 12 km drive along the river valley, has more restaurants, supermarket and 9-hole golf course, plus canoeing on the Dordogne and a disco. 9-hole golf also at Lolivarie, 13 km. A full range of shops and restaurants, as well as more nightlife and a bowling centre can be found in Bergerac with its lovely historic centre, 40 km. Sarlat, 37 km, is one of the Dordogne’s most beautiful towns and has an excellent market as well as interesting places to eat and shop. Set in the heart of the Black Perigord famous for its castles, bastides and citadels. International airport Bergerac 45 km.

The picturesque hamlet of Cabans is on a no-through road from Le Buisson and is very peaceful, yet offers a riverside beach ‘Les Plages de la Dordogne’ only 5 min walk from the house. The house, a pretty C17th converted barn with secluded, fenced garden overlooking an orchard, is ideal for two couples or families to share as one of the bedrooms with own shower room is in an attached building. The swimming pool, 10 x 5 x 1.1-1.8m depth with rigid electric security cover, is easily supervised from the terrace or garden, and the cover conserves the warmth of the water overnight. BBQ.
