Description

Situated on the junction of two rivers, the setting is wonderful, with the gentle sound of running water bringing peace and tranquillity.
Burgundy is a great holiday destination, whether you are a lover of good food and wine, or are seeking thrill and adventure. Activities on offer in the region include hot air ballooning, microlite plane and helicopter rides, ascending the prehistoric Roche de Solutré, the yearly pilgrimage of the late President Mitterand, boating on the river Saone, with famed one-day Silure Safaris to see the brown bullhead, the largest fresh water fish, up to 3 metres long and 200 kilos in weight, not to mention the local horse riding, cycling, tennis and 5 championship golf courses.
Macon is a beautiful town on the banks of the River Saone, birthplace of the 19th century French poet and writer Alphonse de Lamartine. Cluny is the site of the first gigantic Cathedral of the Order of the Templars (as mentioned in Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code), larger than St. Peter in Rome, of which remain imposing ruins and one the towers. It is also home of the Royal stud farm (Haras Nationaux), built around 1650 and still in use, exhibiting live stallions of each of the French horse breeds. Bourg en Bresse hosts the second most visited site in France, the Cathedral of Brou - great sight seeing!!!
